Written
upon the forms of every city are the effects of
conditions and rules which precede and influence
the making of the individual architectures of
which it is composed. No more clearly are these
effects in evidence than in New York City.
Manhattan 2050 is a commentary upon general processes
of urban development, specifically upon the city
as a product of the piecemeal aggregation of architectures
over time. To this end Manhattan is a subject
for analysis and a site for speculative projects.
Manhattan 2050 seeks to occupy an interstitial
space between architecture and other disciplines
whose object of study is the urban environment
and to establish a framework for inter-disciplinary
communication.
